
Pune: Ahead of the Ganesh Festival in Pune, the security has been tightened with security personnel stationed at various places around the city.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Swapna Gore talking to Sakal Times, said, “Considering the current pandemic situation and the upcoming Ganesh Festival, we had made security arrangements at many sensitive areas including the offices of political parties and this is a routine activity of us.”
The security is tightened at Dagdusheth Ganapati temple. With Ganeshotsav coming up in the next two days, special precautions are being taken by the police.
Though this year's festival will be organised in a low key, the Pune police are working round the clock. A team of police officers is also keeping a close eye on social media sites and handles to scrutinise the information that been shared and uploaded.
Also, in a move to create strain and disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the country, the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI is trying to provoke communal riots. The Ram Temple Bhoomipujan took place in the first week of the month. The offices of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) along with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are on the hotlist.
A senior police officer said, “Considering the inputs, we have deployed police bandobast at various offices in Pune. We have deployed forces at various political party offices of those including BJP, RSS and other sensitive areas including various religious places.”
