

Pune, 1st January 2026: A co-accused in the 2010 Pune German Bakery blast was shot dead in a firing incident in Shrirampur town of Ahilyanagar district on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Aslam Shaikh, also known as Bunty Jahagirdar.
According to the police, two unidentified persons arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire at Jahagirdar in Shrirampur. He sustained serious gunshot injuries and was immediately taken to a hospital. However, he died during treatment.
Following the shooting, tension has prevailed in Shrirampur city, and police security has been tightened. A search operation has been launched to trace the attackers, who fled the spot after the incident.
Jahagirdar was one of the accused in the deadly bomb blast that took place on February 13, 2010, at the popular German Bakery in Pune’s Koregaon Park area. The blast, which occurred around 7 pm, shook the entire country.
The terror attack claimed the lives of 18 people and left more than 60 others injured. Investigations had revealed that the attack was carried out by the Indian Mujahideen with assistance from Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Police sources confirmed that Jahagirdar had been out on bail since 2023. Given his link to the high-profile terror case, the shooting has drawn national attention. Authorities are examining all possible angles in the investigation.
