

Pune Grand Tour 2026: Schools and colleges in Shivajinagar, Kasba Peth and adjoining mid-city areas, Dhole Patil road, Aundh, Baner, Sinhagad Road, Kothrud, Bavdhan, Warje Malwadi and Karve Nagar area in Pune would remain closed on January 19, due to road closures for prologue of the “Pune Grand Tour 2026” cycle race. Pune Grand Tour 2026 is India’s first-ever UCI 2.2 category multi-stage, Continental Cycling Race, marking a milestone in India’s global professional cycling presence.
The prologue of the Pune Grand Tour, an 8-kilometre Individual Time Trial (ITT), will be held on January 19, with the race route stretching from Goodluck Chowk on FC Road to the Deccan Bus Stop on JM Road. To facilitate the event, key arterial roads including FC Road, JM Road and University Road, along with internal routes connecting these stretches, will remain closed to traffic and other operations from 9 am to 6 pm on the day.
On Saturday, Pune district collector Jitendra Dudi issued an order in response to a request from the traffic control branch of the Pune city police.
As stated in the order, the “Pune Grand Tour 2026” international cycling race is being held in Pune from January 19 to January 23, 2026. The Pune Grand Tour prologue, which is an 8 kilometer Individual Time Trial (ITT) competition, starting at the Goodluck chowk on FC road and finishing at the Deccan Bus Stop on J M Road, will take place on January 19.
To minimise inconvenience to students and local residents, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav, in a letter sent on Saturday, requested the Pune district collector to order the closure of schools and colleges in select areas of the city on January 19. The request pertained to areas falling under the jurisdiction of various Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) ward offices. The district collector has approved the proposal.

Vishrambaug Wada–Kasba
Dhole Patil Road
Bhavani Peth
Aundh
Baner
Sinhagad Road
Kothrud
Bavdhan
Warje–Karve Nagar
The Pune Grand Tour 2026, a unique UCI 2.2 cycling event, is organized by the Pune District administration in collaboration with the Cycle Federation of India (CFI). This race covers a 437-kilometer track split into four stages, taking place from January 19 to January 23. A total of 171 cyclists will participate, with 12 hailing from India. Teams from 35 countries, such as the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Bulgaria, and Australia, will also compete.
