FDA had suspended Café Goodluck’s license after a video showed glass shards in a bun-maska.
After resolving hygiene issues and submitting medical fitness certificates of staff, the café was cleared to reopen.
Bhiwandi Darbar Hotel in the Camp area is still closed due to non-compliance with FDA norms.
Pune, 29 July 2025: Pune’s iconic Café Goodluck has reopened after a 12-day closure, following a temporary suspension of its license by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The suspension was imposed after a customer shared a video on social media showing glass pieces in a bun maska served at the restaurant.
Upon investigation, the FDA team visited the establishment located on Gopal Krishna Gokhale Road and found several hygiene violations. These included poor cleanliness, lack of valid medical certificates for staff, and blackened walls in the kitchen. As a result, the café’s operating license was suspended on July 14 by FDA Joint Commissioner (Food), Suresh Annapure.
The café has now addressed all the shortcomings pointed out during the inspection. It submitted health certificates for its workers and also renovated its kitchen walls, ensuring they were cleaned and repainted. After these corrective measures, the FDA granted permission to reopen the café from Friday, July 25.
Meanwhile, another hotel in Pune, Bhiwandi Darbar in the Camp area, remains shut as it has not yet fulfilled the necessary requirements laid out by the FDA.
