

Pune, 1st October 2026: Two separate incidents involving minors have raised concerns about juvenile violence in Pune. In Ambegaon Budruk, two minor boys allegedly attacked their 15-year-old classmate with a sharp weapon following an old dispute. In another incident in Kharadi, a group allegedly abducted a 19-year-old youth in a car and assaulted him.
The first incident took place on Tuesday (September 29), when the victim, a resident of Ghule Nagar in Vadgaon Budruk, was on his way to school. Two of his classmates allegedly stopped him in the Ambegaon Budruk area and attacked him with a sharp weapon over a previous dispute.
The student sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a hospital with the help of local residents. Bharati Vidyapeeth Police detained both accused minors and registered a case against them. They have been sent to a juvenile observation home in Yerawada.
A similar incident was reported a few months ago outside a school in Bhavani Peth, where a student was attacked with a sharp weapon.
In a separate incident in Kharadi, a 19-year-old youth was allegedly abducted in a car and brutally assaulted by a group that included minors. The incident took place in the Kharadi Gaothan area on Monday evening.
According to the police, the victim was standing in the area when the accused arrived in a car, forcibly took him inside and assaulted him with belts and sticks. The attack left him seriously injured.
The victim subsequently lodged a police complaint, following which Kharadi Police registered a case against 10 people, including minors. Police have detained three suspects, including a minor, in connection with the incident. Further investigation is underway.
The two incidents have once again brought attention to violent offences involving minors in Pune, with both cases involving alleged assaults and serious injuries.
