Pune: Know which localities from Kothrud, Bavdhan are included in new list of containment zones by PMC
Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Saturday declared a revised list of new containment zones in the city amid the rising cases of the novel coronavirus. The new list includes 71 micro-containment zones in the city. Earlier, there were 74 containment zones as per the order released on September 3.
The revised list issued on Saturday includes 17 new areas while 20 areas are being dropped from the revised list.
Aundh-Baner, Kothrud-Bavdhan, Sinhagad Road, Warje-Karvenagar, Nagar Road-Wadgaonsheri, Dhankawadi-Sahakarnagar which are the new hotspots of the city for the COVID-19 reports maximum of these zones. The Kondhwa-Yeolewadi area has maximum containment zones that is 10 while Kothrud-Bavhdan which were once a Green Zone now has nine zones whereas Dhakawadi and Sahakarnagar has eight zones. Sinhagad Road and Hadapsar-Mundhwa comprise of seven zones each.
Postman Colony, Shashtrinagar, PMC Colony, Sagar Colony, New Lokmanya Colony, Paud Road, Jai Bhawani Nagar, Kishkindhanagar survey no. 120, Sutardara Survey no. 111, 112, Shri Ram Colony, Gadhve Colony, Shinde Colony, Sangam Chowk area are now declared as containment zones.
Bhavani Peth and Yerawada-Kalas-Dhanori ward office area which were once a hotspot for the novel virus now only has one containment zone each while Dhole-Patil Road and Shivajinagar-Ghole Road Wanorie-Ramtekdi have two containment zones each.
The officials from the civic body stated that containment zones are been created in order to curtail the spread of the contagion. The areas which are now declared as containment zones comprises of smaller localities, bylanes and colonies.
