Pune, 2nd March 2026: Residents from the Shia community gathered in Pune’s Kondhwa area on Saturday after reports surfaced about the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The reports, which claimed he died in an attack allegedly linked to Israel and the United States, triggered reactions in several parts of the world, including Pune.

In Kondhwa, citizens assembled and put up posters of Khamenei as a mark of protest. During the gathering, slogans were raised against the United States. The protest was carried out peacefully without any incidents of violence.

Police officials stated that after news of the alleged attack spread, a group of locals came together to register their protest. Authorities clarified that no political or social organization was involved in organizing the demonstration.

Amid the developments, police deployed precautionary measures to ensure law and order in the area. “The situation is completely under control and the protest remained peaceful,” police said.
