
Pimpri: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has imposed a strict lockdown to break the chain of coronavirus. However, some citizens are still risking their life and are stepping out of their homes. Against such violators, Pimpri-Chinchwad police are taking a stern action. On the first day of the lockdown as many as 763 people were booked under the relevant section of 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The administration has imposed a ten-day lockdown in the city as the number of coronavirus patients are rising. The first five days of the lockdown are strict enough, after July 18, considering the situation, relaxations on the lockdown will be given.
On Tuesday, police cordoned off 70 places in the city.
The police are creating awareness about the lockdown in the city. Despite this, some citizens are leaving their homes for no reason. Also, some are venturing on the road without wearing masks, without identity cards or passes. The police are intensifying the patrolling and also is keeping a close eye on these violators. Some people are even penalised.
In Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate which has taken strong action on the first day registered six cases under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act. Cases have been registered in MIDC Bhosari (2), Pimpri (2), Chinchwad (1) and Dehuroad (1) police stations. MIDC Bhosari police have registered 120 cases followed by Chikhali police with 100 cases.
