Pune: Trial run of Pune Metro Rail Project on the 3.5 km stretch between Vanaz and Garware College will be held in the next two months. Metro coaches to the metro project will be reaching Pune from Nagpur in May, MahaMetro Managing Director Dr Brajesh Dixit informed media persons on Tuesday.

After a trial run of Pune Metro Rail Project on the stretch between Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and Phugewadi, a trial run will be conducted on the route between Vanaj to Garware College.

For the same, coaches from Nagpur will be used. Of the arrived coaches, there are still two coaches left. Dixit said the trial run would be conducted using one of the coaches. Meanwhile, a framework for the Pune Metro will arrive Pune by May, Dixit informed, adding, "The issue of land at Mandai has been resolved. Therefore, work on the subway between Swargate and Mandai will begin in the next 1 or 2 months." When he was asked whether the work would be completed within this year, Dixit stated, "Last year the work was halted due to the COVID-19. Although the work is resumed, there are still some glitches to handle. Thus, it would not be fair to mention when the Metro project will be completed."

Meanwhile, the trial run of Metro on the six-km stretch between Phugewadi and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on the Metro Line 1 of PCMC to Swargate was completed on Sunday.
