Pune, 26 December 2025: Traffic restrictions have been announced on the Pune–Nagar Highway and adjoining areas in view of the annual Vijay Stambh tribute ceremony at Koregaon Bhima.
The changes will be effective from 2 pm on December 31 until midnight on January 1, as thousands of followers from across Maharashtra are expected to arrive to pay homage at the Victory Pillar.
To ensure public safety and maintain law and order, vehicular movement will be regulated on major stretches including the Pune–Nagar Highway, Wagholi, Lonikand, Shikrapur, Tulapur Phata, Perne Phata, Vadhu Budruk, Sanaswadi, Kharadi Bypass, and Shewalwadi. Except for emergency services, general traffic will not be allowed on several routes leading towards Koregaon Bhima during this period.
Vehicles travelling from Pune towards Ahmednagar will face restrictions at multiple points, especially on the Kharadi–Wagholi–Lonikand–Shikrapur stretch. Entry will also be restricted on certain roads connected to Solapur Road. Additionally, some bridges over the Mula-Mutha and Indrayani rivers will remain closed for heavy vehicles.
The police have imposed a complete ban on the movement of heavy and oversized vehicles such as trucks, dumpers, mixers, bulkers, JCBs, road rollers, and multi-axle vehicles within Pune city limits for the duration of the event. Authorities have appealed to motorists to strictly follow traffic advisories and opt for alternative routes to avoid congestion.
A strong police deployment will be in place at Koregaon Bhima, Perne village, and around the Vijay Stambh. Pune City Police, Pune Rural Police, and the Traffic Department will work in coordination to manage crowds and traffic flow. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with the police, follow traffic rules, and plan their travel in advance.
To ease movement, designated parking facilities have been arranged for two-wheelers, four-wheelers, buses, and tempos at Lonikand, Tulapur Phata, and nearby areas. Commuters heading towards Ahmednagar, Solapur, Alandi, Chakan, or travelling from Mumbai are advised to use the notified alternative routes during the restriction period.
