Pune, 30th May 2026: Pandit Nehru Stadium at Swargate is set for a major revamp, with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) planning to renovate the venue according to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) standards.
The PMC building department has completed the stadium’s structural audit, and the final redevelopment proposal will soon be sent to the Municipal Commissioner for approval. Officials said the tender process for the project is expected to begin within the next two months.
A joint inspection of the stadium was recently conducted by the PMC Sports Committee, officials from the building department, and the stadium administration. Former BCCI pitch curator Nadeem Memon and other experts also assessed the ground and reviewed the required upgrades.
The redevelopment project will include a new international-standard pitch, renovation of the pavilion, upgraded floodlights, improved seating arrangements for spectators, and installation of a digital scoreboard and LED screens.
Civic officials said the aim is to address all shortcomings in the stadium so that BCCI matches can once again be hosted in Pune.
“The structural audit of Nehru Stadium has been completed and the final report will soon be submitted before the Additional Commissioner. The redevelopment proposal is being sent for approval, and once clearance is received, the tender process for the renovation work will begin within the next two months,” said Vishal Haribhakt, Superintending Engineer, PMC Building Design Department.
