PMPML travel will be more safer: Taking serious note of rising complaints, police officers will now travel on buses and patrol bus stands to prevent harassment and theft targeting women passengers.

Pune, 6th June 2025: The Pune police has undertaken a special campaign for the safety of women passengers of PMPML, and this campaign will increase the safety of women while traveling. Taking note of the increasing complaints of women passengers, the PMPML had instructed the Police Commissioner to take action in this regard.

After this, taking this matter seriously, the Police Commissioner has ordered the police administration to start a special campaign.

What is this campaign?

Under this campaign, Pune City Police has formed a special team. This team includes 4 police officers (2 police inspectors, 1 assistant police inspector, 1 police sub-inspector) and 22 police personnel. This team will travel in PMPML buses. This will help in curbing malpractices in buses and at bus stands.

This special team of Pune Police will be patrolling the busy main bus stands and busy routes regularly during morning and night hours. In addition, this team will be taking action by travelling in buses. This is expected to make the bus travel experience more comfortable and safer for women passengers.

For some time now, PMPML passengers, especially women, have been facing many problems. These include theft of valuables and wallets of passengers, harassment of female passengers using obscene gestures or words, incidents of anti-social elements writing obscene texts or taking pictures at bus stops.
