Pune, 1st April 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation has collected a total revenue of ₹5,326 crore through its key departments, property tax and construction, strengthening its financial position for the current fiscal year.
The property tax department contributed ₹2,985 crore, while the construction department generated ₹2,341 crore through building permissions. Although both departments fell short of their budget targets, the combined revenue significantly added to the civic body’s treasury.
The property tax department had set a target of ₹3,250 crore but managed to collect ₹2,985 crore. A major boost came from the Abhay Scheme, which helped recover pending dues and contributed ₹954 crore. Compared to last year, this department recorded an increase of over ₹600 crore in revenue.
To improve collections, the civic body implemented special drives, kept service centers operational even during holidays, and ensured smooth online payment systems to avoid technical issues for citizens.
Meanwhile, the construction department had aimed to generate ₹2,853 crore but collected ₹2,341 crore. Officials cited land measurement challenges as a key reason for the shortfall. However, the department saw a strong surge in March 2026 alone, earning ₹588 crore within a month.
City Engineer Aniruddha Pawaskar said the department earned around ₹2,342 crore from construction permissions this year, despite setbacks caused by land-related issues, with March contributing a significant share. Property tax chief Ravi Pawar noted that ₹2,985 crore was collected this year, including ₹954 crore through the Abhay Scheme.
