Pune Police clarifies you don’t need pass if you are ‘walking’ to purchase essentials

PUNE: The Pune city police said that there is no need of pass if people are walking to buy grocery, vegetables and milk, which are essential commodities. Pass for vehicle movement is given in emergency cases only, police said.

Till now, a total of 33,234 requests have been received for passes since the lockdown. From Friday, people were asked to apply online on www.punepolice.in to get the pass.

DCP (crime) Bachchan Singh said, “We approved 2403 passes for emergency cases while 1097 requests were rejected. This is only for App which was launched on Friday. In all serious medical ailments/visits to hospitals, approvals are being given where requests are related to the next three days. Others will be given as and when the time comes.”

There is complete lockdown due to Coronavirus outbreak, and no vehicle movement is allowed except those engaged in essential services. However, for medical and other urgency, police provide passes for vehicle movements.

“Please apply for a pass only in exceptional circumstances,” said DCP Singh.  He added that to facilitate digital pass/permissions; please fill details on www.punepolice.in. If approved, you will get an SMS with QR code which needs to be shown to police officers whenever asked.

The police are also supporting Dial Autorickshaw (9859198591) for medical emergencies. People can book the autorickshaw which will come to pick up from their doorstep.
