He was speaking at the launch of the 'No Drugs Volunteer' campaign at Dr. P. A. Inamdar University, in the presence of senior police officials, Dr. Abeda Inamdar, and partner organizations, yesterday.

Addressing the event, Kumar said Police are committed to making the city drug-free and will adopt a zero-tolerance approach against those involved in the illegal drug trade. He stressed that both street-level peddlers and organized networks will face strict action.

“Our goal is clear, we want a drug-free Pune. There will be no leniency for anyone involved in this chain. Strict action, including under MCOCA, will be taken against drug peddlers and organized offenders.” he said.

He added that the campaign is aimed not only at enforcement but also at encouraging public participation. Students and citizens will be involved in spreading awareness, reporting suspicious activity, and helping protect the city’s youth from substance abuse.

The Commissioner also said authorities will act against illegal stalls and shops operating near educational institutions in violation of the 100-metre restriction on tobacco sales, as part of wider efforts to ensure a safer environment for students.
