
Pune, 8th July 2025: In a major breakthrough, Pune Police have successfully dismantled two separate criminal gangs involved in mobile snatching and vehicle theft in Koregaon Park and Kondhwa areas. Several arrests have been made, and stolen property worth several lakhs has been recovered.
In the Koregaon Park incident, police apprehended a gang that had been threatening citizens with weapons and robbing them of mobile phones. Acting on recent complaints of muggings near Wadia College and Chandrama Hotel, a special police team was deployed.
The team, led by PSI Srikant Chavan, laid a trap near the Queens Garden railway track area. When four suspicious individuals were questioned, they attempted to flee but were quickly chased down and detained by police.
Three accused, Siddharth Umesh More (19), Krishna alias Vicky Timreddy Dhangar (21), and Aryan Sambhaji Waghmare (19), were arrested, and one minor was taken into custody. The gang confessed to committing three robberies in Koregaon Park and one in the Wanwadi area.
Police recovered four mobile phones, a two-wheeler, a weapon, and cash from them. The operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Police Commissioner Rajesh Bansode, DCP Milind Mohite, and ACP Atul Navgire, with the support of Senior PI Sunil Thopte and PI (Crime) Sangeeta Jadhav.
Meanwhile, in Kondhwa, police arrested two men involved in a series of vehicle thefts while investigating a stolen auto rickshaw case. The rickshaw had been reported missing from Laxminagar on June 30. Acting on a tip-off, a police team tracked the suspects near Khadimachine Chowk in Pisoli and arrested them after laying a trap.
The accused have been identified as Pralhad Munjaji Ikhe (23) and Gajanan alias Raj Dattakhatpate (24), both residents of Kondhwa. Upon interrogation, police recovered the stolen rickshaw along with seven two-wheelers, with the total value of recovered property estimated at ₹2.5 lakh. It was revealed that the duo had eight criminal cases registered against them across Kondhwa, Lashkar, Kharadi, and Bhor police stations.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Police Commissioner Manoj Patil, Zone 5 DCP Dr. Rajkumar Shinde, ACP Dhanyakumar Godse, and Senior PIs Vinay Patankar and Navnath Jagtap.
