Pune, 25th May 2026: To maintain law and order in the city, Police have imposed prohibitory orders across the entire commissionerate area for 14 days starting from 12:01 am on May 26 until midnight on June 8.

The order has been issued under Section 37 (1) (2) (3) of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951. Police officials stated that various political parties and social organizations frequently organize march, demonstrations, hunger strikes, bandhs and protests in the city over public issues.

Authorities also cited the possibility of tension arising due to anti-encroachment drives and other sensitive matters.

Under the prohibitory orders, carrying or storing explosive materials, inflammable substances, stones, weapons, sharp objects, sticks, swords, firearms or any item that could cause physical harm has been banned.

The order also prohibits carrying symbolic effigies, displaying objectionable posters or banners, and burning photographs or representations of individuals and leaders in public places.

Authorities have further banned aggressive sloganeering, provocative speeches, obscene songs, loud public criticism and the use of symbols, placards or visual material that could threaten public morality, public safety or disturb communal harmony.

Police have warned against any act, speech or material that could incite violence, disturb peace or pose a threat to state security. The restrictions have been imposed as a preventive measure to avoid any law and order issues in the city during the coming days.
