Pune: Private hospitals have 25 per cent coronavirus patients from other districts

Acting on this information, the district administration has instructed to give priority to the patients from Pune District for timely treatment of corona patients in Pune and availability of beds for emergency purposes.

Order to send patients home without symptoms
It has been observed that many private hospitals in the city are treating COVID-19 patients from outside of Pune district. Patients from Solapur, Ahmednagar, Satara, and Latur form most of the incoming traffic. They are being admitted to private hospitals in the city as they find the treatment facilities in their districts to be sub-standard. The proportion of such patients is about 25 %. However, as the number of corona patients in Pune is increasing day by day, the administration has ordered to send the asymptomatic patients home or to the corona care center.

Speaking to Sakal Times, Pune District Collector - Naval Kishore Ram said, "As the number of corona patients is increasing, it is expected to treat patients mainly from Pune district. Also, we are all working to curb the virus and break the chain. This does not mean that patients from outside of Pune should not be treated. However, priority should be given to Pune residents, so that time can be given to other emergency medical cases."
