Pune, 21st August 2026: Passengers travelling through Pune railway station should be prepared for major changes on Sunday. The Central Railway will undertake a nine-hour block at Pune Yard from 8 am to 5 pm to upgrade the capacity of a DDS point on the railway route.
The capacity of the point will be increased from 52 kg to 60 kg. Teams from the engineering, signalling, telecommunications and electrical departments will work together during the block.
Several services will remain cancelled because of the work. These include the Daund-Pune and Pune-Daund DEMU services, Satara-Pune DEMU, and the Mumbai-Pune and Pune-Mumbai Express services.
Passengers travelling on these routes should check the latest railway updates before leaving for the station.
Some long-distance trains will not stop at Pune railway station and will instead use alternative stations.
Jaipur-Pune Express: Khadki
Nagpur-Pune Express: Hadapsar
Jammu Tawi-Pune Express: Hadapsar
Amravati-Pune Express: Hadapsar
Mumbai-Pune Express: Khadki
Some Lonavala and Talegaon-Pune local trains: Shivajinagar

The boarding stations for several trains have also been changed. The Pune-Jaipur Express will depart from Khadki at 5.35 pm, while the Pune-Nagpur Express will leave from Hadapsar at 5.45 pm. The Pune-Mumbai Express will depart from Khadki at 5.55 pm.
The Pune-Kolhapur DEMU will depart from Satara, while the Pune-Lonavala local will originate from Shivajinagar.
The block is also expected to affect the timings of some trains passing through the Pune section. The Mumbai-Chennai Express may be delayed by around 40 minutes between Lonavala and Shivajinagar.
Passengers travelling on August 23 should verify their train's running status, departure station and revised timings before starting their journey. Those required to board trains from Khadki, Hadapsar, Shivajinagar, Satara or Daund should allow extra travel time.
The railway block is part of technical work to improve the capacity of the Pune Yard point, but it is expected to temporarily disrupt several train services in and around Pune.
