

Pune Grand Tour: Pune is set to experience significant traffic congestion on January 23, as the Pune Grand Tour 2026 enters its final stage on 23rd. The international cycling event, scheduled from January 19 to January 23, will cover stage 3: a 58-kilometre route through the city’s inner areas, starting from Balewadi and ending at Bal Gandharva Rangmandir, passing through various parts of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
As per a letter issued by the district information office, Pune there will be potential for widespread traffic disruptions during the stage 4 race. Authorities have warned that the event is likely to affect mobility across the city, prompting precautionary measures.
To minimize inconvenience to students and school operations, the Pune Municipal Corporation has directed all government and private schools within city limits to remain open until 12:00 PM on January 23 and to close thereafter. This decision has been taken in view of anticipated traffic challenges and to ensure the safety of students during the event. Officials have also asked local school authorities to inform all schools in their jurisdiction.
The Pune Grand Tour 2026 is India’s first UCI-recognised multi-stage continental cycling race, drawing global attention as it moves through the city over six days. The final stage is expected to bring a major surge in spectators and traffic, as the city gears up for a high-profile sporting finale.
