Pune: State Minister for School Education Varsha Gaikwad has announced that schools for students of class 5 to 8 will also be started from January 27. Gaikwad has informed that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has given his approval for the decision.

“We had requested CM Uddhav Thackeray to allow the schools for classes 5 to 8 to reopen. He has given the go ahead. Local administration will take necessary precautions before implementing this decision. Parents and students' written consent and RT PCR tests for teachers is mandatory,” Gaikwad has said in a video in Marathi language released on her twitter account.

Schools for class 9 to 12 students were allowed to reopen from January 4. However, parents and students have stayed away from the physical classrooms. Only about 30 per cent of students have submitted their written consent forms at the schools and fewer than those students are actually attending the classes.
