Pune-Secunderabad Shatabdi Express found unclean, broken

PUNE: Railway passengers of Pune-Secunderabad Express which had recently been awarded the cleanest train in Shatabdi across the country, faced inconvenience during the journey on Wednesday.

The passengers had a complaint about cleanliness and damage to the luggage cabin. On Wednesday, train number 12025 Pune-Secunderabad Shatabdi Express departed from Pune junction.

After boarding, several passengers found the floor of the coach unclean, the luggage cabin was broken and packaged food litter was found in the pockets of the back of the seat.

“I booked my ticket on this train. When I boarded the train, I found that the luggage cabin was broken over my seat. It was also found that the seat and carpet area was not cleaned. This was one of the best trains for Secunderabad,” said Amit Kaushik, travelling in E1 coach.

The Pune Railway Division had given a new look to Pune-Secunderabad Shatabdi Express by changing its interior and exterior on December 2018. The train has an ultra-modern Anubhuti coach. The changes were made under ‘Project Gold’. In February, this was also declared the cleanest Shatabdi Express with a score of 916 under the ‘Premium Trains’ category of the Train Cleanliness Survey 2018.

When contacted, the spokesperson of Pune Division Manoj Jhawar said that the train will arrive at Pune junction then it will be checked.

“The train departed in the morning. When the train arrives at Pune junction, it will be checked by the maintenance department. If the issues raised by the passengers are found true, we will sort it out on a priority basis,” Jhawar said.
