Pune, 21 March 2026: The much-anticipated Metro Line 3, connecting Pimpri-Hinjawadi IT Park to Pune city, has entered its final phase of construction.
The corridor is expected to significantly benefit IT professionals by improving daily commute and reducing travel time between Shivajinagar and Hinjawadi.
PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari recently conducted an on-ground inspection of the project and reviewed the progress. Following directives from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the project is now being executed in mission mode to ensure timely completion.
The commissioner reviewed the entire 23.2 km stretch from Maan to Shivajinagar, which includes 23 stations. Senior officials, including Chief Engineer Rinaz Pathan and Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited CEO Anilkumar Saini, were present during the inspection.
Currently, 94.20% of the work has been completed. Technical trials for signaling systems are underway, while safety and technical inspections have also been completed. Authorities are now focusing on accelerating the remaining work without compromising safety and quality.
In the first phase, 12 stations are expected to be operational by May. Once functional, the metro is expected to reduce dependency on private vehicles and help tackle severe traffic congestion and poor road conditions in the Hinjawadi IT corridor.
