Officers promptly called MSEB officials to the scene, who then disconnected the power supply to the DP. Once the electricity was shut off, the police were able to safely recover the bodies from the site. Preliminary indications suggest both men died due to electrocution from the exposed or faulty DP.

Vinod Kshirsagar was a resident of Kasturba Gandhi Vasahat in Aundh and worked as a rickshaw driver. He had been reported missing by his mother on the night of July 13 after he failed to return home. Saurabh Nikhalje, the second victim, lived in the Kothrud area and was employed in the private sector.
