Pune: The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) on Tuesday decided to postpone its first semester examinations to April 11. The SPPU also informed that a detail schedule will be announced on March 25. Also, the company named SPPU EduTech Foundation, SEF, a Section 8 company has been set up by the varsity and is expected to conduct the exams.

A meeting was called by the SPPU’s board of exams on Tuesday at which the decision was taken to postpone the examinations from March 15 to the new date.

The SPPU has earlier declared the exams for the first year would start from March 30. The first and second-year exams will be held in 50 marks online MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) format and the examination duration will be for one hour for each subject. According to various reports, it is known that the Foundation would conduct Semester I and II exams together so that students appearing for the examination will not have to undergo the process two times.

Meanwhile, SPPU has decided to conduct Final Year Exams 2021 via online mode. The final year students who will appear for the exams will get two options to write the descriptive papers.

There were demands from students and various student organisations to conduct the exams online amid the COVID pandemic. In February, the Minister for Higher and Technical Education Uday Samant had also stated universities can conduct exams online as well as physical exams as per the COVID-19-related situation in their respective areas.
