Pune, 7th August 2025: Twenty-four residents from Awasari Khurd village near Manchar in Pune district have been stranded in Uttarakhand following flash floods triggered by a cloudburst in Dharali village, Uttarkashi. The incident has caused widespread concern among their families, who have not been able to contact them for over 24 hours.
Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule and Ambegaon MLA Dilip Walse Patil have sought urgent help from the Uttarakhand government. Sule said that the families of the stranded tourists were deeply worried, and shared the contact details of the missing individuals on social media to speed up assistance.
Dilip Walse Patil stated that he had spoken directly to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and requested immediate support. According to him, the state’s disaster management department has confirmed that all the tourists are safe but could not be contacted due to power failure in the affected region.
A total of 51 tourists from Maharashtra are stranded in Uttarkashi district, including the 24 from Pune. The remaining tourists are from Nanded and other districts. Maharashtra’s State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) has assured that coordination is ongoing with Uttarakhand’s disaster management authorities to facilitate rescue efforts.
The Pune district collectorate has also confirmed that all 24 tourists from the Manchar area are safe. However, direct contact with them is yet to be restored. Efforts are being made via Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi to relocate the tourists to safer areas.
District administrations in Maharashtra have been asked to stay alert and offer any required assistance. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and have promised timely updates to the families of the stranded individuals.
