

Pune, April 19: The Pune Traffic Police have announced temporary changes to traffic arrangements in the city’s central areas on Sunday, in view of the expected surge in footfall at the Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.
Authorities said large crowds are expected at the temple. Additionally, a two-wheeler rally will be organised to mark Bhagwan Parshuram Jayanti. Considering the anticipated turnout, traffic diversions have been put in place. Traffic movement on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road, Laxmi Road, and adjoining areas will be regulated until the crowd disperses. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road will remain closed to vehicular traffic. Except for emergency services, PMPML buses and other vehicles will be diverted.
Vehicles travelling towards Swargate via Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road will be diverted from S.G. Barve Chowk (Modern Café) through Jangli Maharaj Road, Jhansi Rani Chowk, Deccan Gymkhana, Tilak Chowk, and Tilak Road.
PMPML buses heading towards the Pune Municipal Corporation will be rerouted via S.G. Barve Chowk, Jangli Maharaj Road, and Jhansi Rani Chowk.
The stretch from Appa Balwant Chowk to Hutatma Chowk (Budhwar Chowk) will remain closed, with traffic redirected via Bajirao Road.
Traffic from Lal Mahal Chowk towards Ganesh Road will also be diverted through alternate routes.
Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly and cooperate with traffic authorities to ensure smooth movement during the period.
