Pune, 27th July 2026: In a bid to ease disruptions to construction activities, Pune Traffic Police have permitted Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) mixer vehicles to operate within city limits on Saturdays and Sundays between 6 am and 5 pm.

The decision has been taken on a trial basis and was announced by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr. Sandeep Bhajibhakare.

The city had earlier imposed restrictions on the entry of heavy vehicles following a rise in road accidents. However, the ban on RMC mixer vehicles had begun affecting ongoing construction projects, prompting the traffic police to introduce a limited relaxation.

Under the new order, RMC mixer vehicles will be allowed to enter all parts of the city, including designated red zones, during the specified hours on weekends. The permission is exclusively for RMC mixers and does not extend to other heavy vehicles.

The existing restrictions on Hyvas, dumpers, trucks, JCBs, tractors, road rollers, and other slow-moving construction vehicles will continue without any changes. Authorities clarified that only RMC mixer vehicles are covered under the revised order.

To improve road safety, every RMC mixer vehicle must be fitted with 360-degree cameras, rear-view cameras, and reverse parking sensors. If these systems are not available, the vehicle must be accompanied by a cleaner or driver assistant while operating.

In addition, every RMC batching plant must keep a breath analyser and conduct an alcohol test on drivers before allowing mixer vehicles to leave the premises.
