According to official data, over 10.9 lakh cases were recorded in 2023, followed by 11.8 lakh in 2024. The number rose sharply in 2025, with nearly 19.9 lakh violations registered in just one year. Traffic officials say this increase reflects both higher non-compliance and stricter monitoring across the city.

Violations related to no-entry zones and one-way roads have seen the most significant rise. Over the three-year period, nearly seven lakh cases were recorded under this category alone, with more than five lakh violations reported in 2025.

Signal jumping has also emerged as a major concern, accounting for over three lakh cases, with a sharp spike in the current year.

Action was also taken against triple-seat two-wheeler riders, wrong-side driving, dangerous driving, drunk driving, and mobile phone use while driving. Pedestrian safety violations such as parking on footpaths and riding on sidewalks were penalised, along with cases involving tinted glass on vehicles.

City Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said the focus is on long-term traffic discipline rather than short-term penalties. He stated that the police are using CCTV surveillance, e-challan systems and focused enforcement drives to ensure compliance.
