Pune University extends deadline for exam form submission

Pune: The Savitribai Phule Pune University has extended the deadline for submission of exam forms upto June 25 by students of all courses and academic years. Meanwhile, the deadline for accepting internal assessment marks on the university portal has been extended to June 27.

Mahesh Kakade, Director of Board of Examinations & Evaluation of SPPU said, "We have extended the deadline once more in the interest of and for the convenience of students. There were complaints of some technical snags while submitting the forms and also while entering the internal assessment marks of students on the university portal. I discussed this issue with Vice-Chancellor Dr Nitin Karmalkar and we decided that those students who could not submit their forms should not suffer because of technical errors. These students can now complete the formalities."

The process of submission of exam forms is going on for six months. The SPPU had asked students to fill exam forms from January 1 to February 28 this year for their exams to be conducted in March 2020. But due to the coronavirus outbreak, the exams schedule was interrupted and they were postponed. Since the corona pandemic threat increased, all examinations were cancelled except for the final year of courses. At this time, several students claimed that they had to yet fill the exam forms and they should be given a chance to do so. The SPPU then allowed students to fill exam forms online through their website.

University had declared that the final year exams will be conducted in July and hence the deadline for submission of exam forms was announced to be May 19 to May 28. This was again extended upto June 11. Still, students of engineering and other branches demanded that the deadline be extended again. According to sources, some management council and senate members too asked the university to consider the demands of these students. Hence the university has again extended the deadline upto June 25.

ATTEMPTS TO TAKE UNDUE ADVANTAGE

A case has been noticed where a student had taken admission for BBA course in 2017 but he did not appear for his exams. Due to the Corona-crisis, the state government had recently declared that students will be promoted to the next grade without conducting exams. It was that time this particular student filled the exam form for this year. Now the question remains to see whether such students will be promoted or not since it has been decided that they will be promoted based on their previous years internal assessment.
