Pune, 10 February 2026: Punekars travelling through University Chowk may soon get relief from daily traffic congestion, as the Baner-side ramp of the integrated double-decker flyover is likely to open this week.
Officials from the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) confirmed the development on Monday, according to a report by The Times of India.
PMRDA chief engineer Rinaj Pathan said that final work on signage is currently in progress. She told TOI that the flyover ramp connecting the Baner–Shivajinagar side is expected to open by the end of the week. However, she added that the Pashan-side ramp will take longer and is likely to be completed within the next two to three months.
Officials said nearly 90% of the overall construction has been completed, with only ramp-related works remaining. The delay in opening the Pashan-side ramp has been caused by ongoing utility shifting and repairs to a leaking water pipeline in the area.
The Aundh–Shivajinagar (E-Square) corridor of the flyover was opened to traffic in August 2025. Once all ramps are operational, PMRDA officials said the project will significantly reduce travel time, fuel consumption, traffic congestion, and vehicular pollution along this crucial corridor.
The 1.7-kilometer structure features three-lane ramps originating from Aundh, Baner, and Pashan, converging into a three-lane integrated double-decker flyover. This distinctive design accommodates the Metro corridor on the top deck, while vehicles travel on the lower deck, all supported by a single-pier system.
