Pune, 16 April 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation has announced that elections to appoint ward committee chairpersons across its 15 regional offices will be held on April 21. The civic body has initiated the process following the completion of subject committee elections.
Candidates interested in contesting must submit their nomination applications on April 17 between 3 PM and 5 PM at the municipal secretary’s office.
The election process has been declared by Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar as per provisions of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act.
The voting will begin at 11 AM on April 21 at the PMC headquarters and will be conducted under the supervision of Additional District Collector Satish Raut, who will preside over the proceedings.
Pune is divided into 15 regional offices, each covering two to three wards. After the recent municipal elections, the administration revised the boundaries of certain ward committees, including changes in Yerawada and Nagar Road areas.
These boundary changes are seen as politically significant, with the BJP expected to gain an advantage. The party is likely to secure chairperson posts in 14 out of 15 ward committees, while Congress is expected to retain control of the Wanworie-Ramtekdi committee.
