Pune, 19 June 2025: While cases of harassment of daughters-in-law for dowry are still emerging in society, the Khadsare family from Handewadi (Undri) has become an inspiring exception. By standing firmly behind their daughter-in-law, they have set an example of progressive thinking and unwavering family support.
Nikita Takle-Khadsare, the pride of this family, has carved her name in the male-dominated world of motorsports. She has participated in more than 100 motorcar competitions across Maharashtra, the country and even abroad, bagging numerous winner and runner-up titles, and showcasing the power of familial encouragement.
Nikita’s passion for driving began in childhood, and her father Nitin Takle recognised her potential early on. He ensured she got the right exposure and training. Her journey in competitive racing started at just 18 years old, and remarkably, her in-laws not only accepted her passion after marriage but also provided her with every resource and motivation to continue.
While Indian women in this sport are still very few, Nikita’s story stands out as proof that with family support, societal norms can be challenged. The Khadsare family’s faith and Nikita’s dedication have together sent a strong message: empowerment at home can help women achieve even unconventional dreams.
"Seeing my passion for driving, my parents encouraged me to participate in the competition. Initially, I was not interested in it, but it was only with the faith and guidance shown by my parents and the support given by my in-laws after marriage that I was able to reach this far."
