Pune's party hotspots made vehicle free on New Year's Eve

Pune: To avoid traffic congestion and over-crowding on December 31, the Pune Traffic Police department has declared MG (Mahatma Gandhi) Road, FC (Fergusson College) Road and JM (Jangli Maharaj) Road as no vehicle zone. The aforementioned roads are considered as party hotspots in the city where numher of youth gathers to celebrate the New Year. The areas will be under no vehicle zone tag from 6 pm on December and will remain till 6 am on January 1.

Pune Traffic Police issued an order on Wednesday which read, "FC Road, JM Road, MG Road in Camp area are crowded on the evening of December 31 leading to huge traffic jams. Therefore, the decision has been taken to keep this area vehicle free on New Year's Eve.”

FC Road: From Fergusson College Gate to Goodluck Hotel Chowk

JM Road: From Khandojibaba Chowk to Bal Gandharva Chowk

MG Road: From Pulgate Chowk to Hotel Aurora Towers

Meanwhile, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has already issued a guidelines for December 31. All restaurants, cafe, pube and bars will be closed after 10.45 while food home delivery will be shut after the same time, the guidelines read.

Also, those visiting to seek blessings from Pune's beloved Bappa, Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati will not be allowed to visit temple on January 1. The police has decided to close Shivaji Road for vehicles on Friday.
