Pune: With an aim to improve the Indian Railways’ working and output, the Efficiency and Research of Railway Board has asked all the railway zones to suggest organisational reforms.
In the letter, Efficiency and Research of Railway Board Executive Director (ED) Jitendra Singh mentioned, “During the performance review VC, which was held on November 20, Hon’ble Minister for Railways had directed all the officers who attended the VC to give a one-page note containing suggestions on the next level of organisational reforms to be undertaken to improve performance and efficiency of the Railways.”
A senior officer of Pune Railway Division said that they have given several suggestions.
“The purpose of the suggestions is only to provide much better facilities for passengers. The Pune railway station has already been given to the Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC) but still more things need to be completed. There are many trains, whose speed needs to be increased, improvement of pantry car and others,” the officer said.
“The Railways wants to reduce the number of staff in the Railway Board. The Board is already overstaffed and due to this, the organisation gets affected,” said the officer. The officer has denied that any trains running between Pune and Mumbai will be given to a private party.
“There is nothing mentioned in the suggestion of Performance and Efficiency of the Railways to hand over any of the trains running between Pune and Mumbai to a third party,” said the officer.
