Pune: The students of the Republican Party of India (RPI) staged a ‘Bhikmangi Andolan’ at the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) on Tuesday.
They raised several demands, but the main one was non-availability of an ambulance on the SPPU campus. They highlighted irregularities in rechecking of papers, claiming that students gain extra marks in reevaluation by bribing the officers.
A letter issued by RPI said they called off the agitation after Vice-Chancellor (VC) of SPPU agreed to fulfill their demands. The VC stated that by the end of this month the varsity will deploy an ambulance on the campus. The VC promised to take action against bogus institutions and conduct a discussion with RPI members on the issue.
National Convenor of RPI, Mandar Joshi led the protest along with Secretary Suraj Gaikwad, City-President Rohit Kamble and other members of the party.
