Pune: On the occasion of Ganesh festival, Sakal Social Foundation and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) carried out ‘Social For Action Cleanliness Drive’ in various housing societies in the city on recently. People residing at several housing societies as well as students and teachers from different schools participated in the drive.
Lunkad Amazon Housing Society, CCD Chowk Viman Nagar, Dhaneshwar High School, Dhanori, Anand Vidyaniketan School, Viman Nagar, Polite Paradise, Golden City Housing Society, Madhav Nagar, Dhanori, Guru Ganesh Nagar Housing Society, DP Road, Kothrud, Vrundavan Housing Society, DP Road and Kothrud were amongst those that participated in the drive.
While organising the cleanliness drive in the schools, the students, as well as teachers, took part in the event. The authorities and cleanliness workers of Yerawada Ward Office, as well as Apollo Hospital, supported the volunteers. To create awareness, the volunteers also carried out a rally in the area shouting slogans to encourage the public to keep the surroundings clean.
Kalidas Parande, Founder President of Dhaneshwar School, Arjun Jhade, Principal, Sanjay Ghavate, Senior Health Officer, Yerawada Ward Office, etc. also participated in the drive. While carrying out the awareness campaign in the societies, the volunteers also appealed to the people to segregate wet waste and dry waste.
