Pune: With COVID-19 graph's not flatenning its curve in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, the administration of both cities jointly has decided to keep schools closed.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Saturday decided keep schools closed till January 3.

“Considering the COVID-19 crisis, it is not possible to resumption of schools in the current situation, thus all schools in the Pune Municipal Corporation area will be closed till January 3, 2021," the order read.

The PMC in its last order about the resumption said that schools for classes for class 9th to 12th can resume ‘offline’ classes by strictly following all the COVID-19 norms and standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the state government from December 13.

However, municipal corporation has further decided to postpone the resumption of schools.

One of the parents after the decision said, "Its a good decision. We cannot risk our kids to visit schools until the COVID-19 vaccine is available. The students are learning via online method and they are now in rhythm of the new method. There should be no hurry for physical attendance."
