PUNE: The second lottery for the admissions under Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act will be announced on Saturday.
The second lottery will allot 6,153 seats to children coming from economically weaker classes (EWC), out of the total of 16,437 seats in Pune this year. In the first lottery that was declared on March 12 and 13, 10,284 students were allotted schools.
The schools under the Federation are denying admissions due to the prolonged issue of reimbursement of fees against the 25 per cent RTE admissions. The issue is in court.
The Court’s next hearing is on April 24.
“The second lottery will be released by NIC, and the SMS about the same will be sent to the respective parents. The parents of the students who were allotted schools but haven’t got admissions yet needn’t be afraid because of second lottery. Their seats are safe and will be kept reserved for them,” Shailaja Darade, Education Officer, Pune Zila Parishad said.
