
Pune, 23 June 2025: A speeding truck crashed into two cars and a motorcycle on Vadgaon flyover in the Sinhagad Road area early Sunday morning (June 22), killing a pillion rider and seriously injuring the rider. The truck driver, who fled after the accident, was later arrested by Sinhagad Road Police.
The deceased has been identified as Kiran Pawar (25), a resident of ShramSafalya Colony, Karvenagar. The injured rider, Yash Jayprakash Kirdat (25), from the same area, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Yash has lodged a complaint with Sinhagad Road Police Station. The arrested truck driver has been named as Mahantesh Shrikant Andodgi (37), a resident of Golsar, Indi Taluka, Karnataka.
According to police, around 5 AM, Yash and his friend Kiran were returning home on a bike when the speeding truck hit them from behind on Vadgaon flyover. The truck then rammed into two cars, damaging them as well. The driver fled the spot after the crash.
On being informed, Senior Police Inspector Dilip Daingade and Crime Inspector Uttam Bhajnawale rushed to the scene and immediately shifted both youths to a private hospital. However, Kiran died before treatment could begin. The truck driver, Mahantesh Andodgi, was later arrested late at night.
Frequent accidents are reported on Vadgaon flyover due to speeding vehicles. Recently, a biker died after being hit by a car, which then fell off the flyover onto the service road, injuring the driver and his friends.
