Pune, 2nd February 2026: Three people, including two women, lost their lives in separate road accidents reported from Uttamnagar, Aundh, and the Nagar Road area of Pune. Preliminary investigations suggest that overspeeding, driver negligence, and inadequate safety measures were major factors behind the incidents.

In the first case, a woman died after a two-wheeler slipped on NDA Road in the Uttamnagar area. The deceased, identified as Shirley N. Anthony (37), was riding pillion with her husband when the bike skidded near Bhaji Mandai Chowk a few days ago.

She suffered a serious head injury and later succumbed during treatment. Police have registered a case against her husband for rash driving.

In another incident, an elderly woman pedestrian was killed after being hit by a PMPML bus on Ganeshkhind Road in Aundh. Chandrakala Gnanoba Vavhal (75) was crossing the road near Kendriya Vidyalaya on the night of January 30 when a speeding bus struck her. A case has been filed against the bus driver, and the matter is under investigation.

Meanwhile, on Nagar Road in the Chandan Nagar area, a 51-year-old man died after being hit by a truck while attempting to board a bus at a PMPML stop. The accident occurred late on January 31.

The victim has been identified as Ranjit Prakash Bhosale, a resident of Wadgaon Sheri. Police have booked the truck driver and are probing the circumstances leading to the crash.
