Two policemen in Pune suspended after fleeing from burglars

Pune: Two policemen of the Chaturshringi police station were suspended by Pune Police on charges of dereliction of duty after they were caught on fleeing from burglars in Aundh-based society.

The CCTV footage which went viral on social media showed four robbers coming out of the main gate of the society. At the time of their exit from the society, two marshals patrol duty arrived at the gate. Instead of nabbing them, the cops allowed the burglars to flee from the spot.

The two policemen are now under inquiry for dereliction of duty.

The CCTV footage showed that the two cops coming to the gate of a society on their two-wheeler. One cop turned the bike after he saw some four suspected burglars coming towards them, leaving the other cop behind. The second policeman, who had his service gun, did not use it.

While one cop was placed under suspension for leaving his colleague behind, the other is facing action for not using the firearm and letting the burglars flee from the spot. The duo will face an internal inquiry.
