Pune: Swayam Shikshan Prayog (SSP), a learning and development-focused organisation that empowers grassroot women in underserved communities in India, will host ‘Unnati Global Forum’(UGF) on May 25, 2018, in Orchid Hotel, Pune.
The theme for this year’s event is ‘Women Lead Change’, bringing to the spotlight the capacity of rural women as changemakers of their communities.

Unnati Global Forum will bring to the fore women leaders, their solutions to global challenges and their journey towards self-sufficiency. It will strongly emphasise why women should be the preferred partners for creating lasting change in rural communities and consequently, on a global level. The forum will be attended by former Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Padma Vibhushan Dr RA Mashelkar who has made remarkable contributions to India in the field of science and technology. The forum will also see speakers from 20 countries and will have panel discussions on sustainable agriculture, women entrepreneurship and leadership, and the need for cross-collaboration for energising the ecosystem of women networks.

“With this forum, we intend to break the myths around grassroots women leaders. Our women leaders have proven to their communities and the world their ability to take charge and transform challenges into opportunities,” said Prema Gopalan, Founder and Executive Director of SSP. “We will also introduce Unnati Fellowship for Women Changemakers, where 20 grassroot women leaders will be given a platform and aid.
