PUNE: A 25-year-old woman became a victim of online fraud after she was cheated to the tune of Rs 92,000 by a fraudster, who posed as a resident of UK and identified himself as Robet Nelson. A case of cheating has been lodged by the victim at Wakad police station.
As per the police, the victim and the accused became friends in 2016 on Facebook. After a few days, the accused showed interest in marrying the victim. The accused then told the victim that he has sent some gifts and ornaments for her. The victim then received a phone call from Delhi airport to deposit Rs 92,000 in order to claim the gift and ornaments. The victim did as she was instructed on phone only to find that she has been scammed. Following the incident, the victim lodged a case. Police Inspector Sunil Pinjan of Wakad police is investigating the case.
