
Pune: Zeal Education Society (ZES) recently organised a two-day national NBA Accreditation Workshop in the city. The QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) rankings list the top 200 universities in the world. While US universities dominate the overall rankings, only three Indian universities have made it to the top 200. As a part of its initiatives to fulfil this gap, ZES had organised this workshop.
In this two-day workshop, the nationally nominated speakers guided the participants regarding NBA process. Arun Nigavekar (former UGC president) addressed the participants on the subject of evaluation and accreditation, as well as highlighted the importance of appraisal for improving the organisation’s work and developing quality.
He also mentioned about the research on various accreditation models around the world, where it was found that the criteria for education, research development and international efforts, organisation and government, human resources personnel and physical resources, results and human resources are paramount.
Dr Mallikharjuna Babu K, (Principal, BMS College of Engineering, Bengaluru) shared details on Washington Accord and Accreditation for Quality Education. Dr SC Sahasrabudhe, (Member, Academic Advisory Committee NBA Committee) gave information about the changes in e-SAR and NBA functioning. Prof Ashutosh Marathe (Dean Quality Assurance, VIT, Pune) threw light on the aspects of NBA interactive
programme.
Dr PJ Kulkarni, Deputy Director, (Walchand Engineering College, Sangli and Member, NBA Committee,) highlighted the importance of NBA evaluation and result based on assessment system. Dr Ratnadip Joshi (Associate Dean, Quality Assurance and Professor, MIT WPU, Pune) shared his valuable knowledge regarding rubric development and evaluation pattern. Dr RR Joshi, (Professor, COEP, Pune and Member, NBA Committee) conducted a session on analysis of changes in the NBA process through a case study, and MV Kalidas, (VP Inpods) interacted with the participants, giving detailed information about Bloom’s Taxonomy.
Around 250 professors, directors and the deans from the pan India and Bhutan participated in the workshop with enthusiasm.The programme was organised under the guidance of Prof Jayesh Katkar (Executive Director, ZES) and was managed successfully under the guidance
of Dr Sanjay Deokar (Campus Director, ZES) and
Dr Indu Sharma (Dean, Strategic Management and Planning, ZES).
