Banthia and Patel advance

Pune: The Indian pair of Siddhant Banthia and Megh Bhargav Patel defeated Natthayut Nithithananont from Thailand and Sebastian Nothhaft from Hong Kong 7-5, 7-6 (9-7) in the boys doubles contest of the second edition of the HCL Asian B1 Junior Tennis Championship in progress at Deccan Gymkhana Tennis Courts on Wednesday.

In another match, Christian Didier Chin from Malaysia and Sergey Fomin from Uzbekistan beat Odeda Muhammad Arazza from Indonesia and Kabir Hans from India 6-1, 6-1. Meanwhile the pair of Dev Javia and Mann Shah defeated Kevin Patel and Aaryan Zaveri 6-4 7-6 (7-2) to advance to the next round.

In the secound round of the singles event, fourth seed Siddhant Banthia outplayed Taiyo Hirano from Japan 6-1, 6-2 while fifth seeded Megh Bhargav Patel defeated Ki Lung Ng of Hong Kong 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.

In another action, sixth seeded Sacchitt Sharrma served out Sai Karteek Reddy Ganta 6-0, 6-4 while seventh seeded Mann Shah broke Digvijay Pratap Singh once in each set winning 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 to make it to the quarterfinals.
