PUNE: Given that right pacing is critical to help runners achieve a good performance at endurance sports, the 2nd edition of Bajaj Allianz Pune Half Marathon (BAPHM) has tied up with Motiv8 as official pace team for the December 22 run.
“A lot of runners are recreational and so they may need guidance from more established runners to meet their goal. Going out too fast too early may cost a lot later in the race and it can be avoided if a pace bus is followed which is closest to their fitness level,” said Vikas Singh, CEO and founder of APG Running, the Promoter of BAPHM.
“We believe the rigor of Motiv8 will bring great method to pacing as they join us as the sole managers of pace buses,” added Singh.
Motiv8 Coaching provides fitness coach for endurance athletes training for running and triathlon events. Under the expert guidance of founder and head coach Atul Godbole, who is an accomplished athlete himself, Motiv8 Coaching has helped hundreds of athletes of all abilities to train for and successfully complete running and triathlon races, including 10Ks, half marathons, full marathons, Comrades and other ultras, as well as Ironman races.
HOW PACING WORKS
Bajaj Allianz Pune Half Marathon has assembled the Motiv8 Pace Team--a team of experienced runners for the 5K, 10K and Half Marathon distances, who will run and complete the distance in a per-determined time.
If a runner wants to target a particular time, one has to just make sure to run in the pacer’s group and try to stick with the pacer till the end. The pacer will follow efficient pacing as per the requirements of the course and make sure that you finish before the target time, strongly without fading.
Atul Godbole, founder and head coach of Motiv8 coaching, will be supervising this activity. He himself is an accomplished athlete, a 3-time Comrades finisher, Ironman finisher, Ironman 70.3 World Championship qualifier.
“We welcome Motiv8 to the team and we are looking forward to their able pacing to make this event even more desirable,” said Vikas Singh.
