Mercedes Formula One driver and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton will miss Sakhir Grand Prix in Bahrain, after testing positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday.

The FIA confirmed in a statement that the world champion is now in isolation. The statement say, " The FIA, Formula 1 and Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team can today confirm that during mandatory pre-race PCR testing for the Sakhir Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton has tested positive for COVID-19.

He needs a negative test before being allowed to return to the paddock and thus remains a doubt for the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi. The Brit is the third F1 driver to test positive for novel virus this season, following Sergio Perez at Silverstone and Lance Stroll in Germany
