Ahmedabad: The head coach of India's men's cricket team, Ravi Shastri got the first dose of the vaccine against novel coronavirus in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

"Got the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Thank you to the amazing medical professionals & scientists for empowering India against the pandemic," Shastri wrote on his Twitter handle

"Extremely impressed with the professionalism shown by Kantaben & her team at Apollo, Ahmedabad in dealing with COVID-19 vaccination," he added.

Shastri is currently in Ahmedabad as India reaady to battle England in the fourth and final Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The fourth and final Test of the series will begin in Ahmedabad on Thursday.

Meanwhile, India's vaccination drive entered its new phase on Monday in which everyone above 60 and those over 45 with co-morbidities can get the jab. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday started the nationwide vaccinatiin drive by getting himself inoculated with Bharat Biotech's Covaxin at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi.
