Chennai: Cricket fans are celebrating as India thumped England by 317 runs on Day 4 of the second Test match, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This was India’s first win on home soil in COVID-19 era. Cricket returned to India after almost a year amid COVID-19 pandemic.
India last played Test match against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens in November 2019. India won the Test series against Asian counterparts. With a win against England in the second Test, India now has jumped to the second spot of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) while England slipped down to fourth place.

Earlier on Tuesday, chasing a big target of 482 runs, England were bundled for 164 in the second innings. India's bowling department cruised past England, with Axar Patel registering his maiden five-wicket haul in his debut Test match. Meanwhile, R Ashwin grabbed three wickets and Kuldeep Yadav scalped two dismissals. India will play England in third Test match at Ahmedabad starting February 24.
